Island Children Biggest Hit By Epidemic |

The classroom is slowly becoming a battleground for the war against childhood obesity, thanks to GetKidsActive.com; evidence is showing Pacific Island children have been hardest hit by the epidemic.
Health professionals are warning that all children are at risk however.
"The weight of our kids in the past 15 to 20 years has increased by six kilograms," says Auckland University Associate Professor Robert Scragg.
Studies throughout New Zealand show that the obesity bulge is biggest in the Pacific Island community.
Researchers say they hope they can find a solution in the classroom, GetKidsActive.com proposes that all schools get involved in the GKA physical activity programme which promotes physical activity and healthy eating in the school environment.
"Next to smoking, in my opinion, obesity is the next major public health issue that confronts New Zealand," says Scragg. Something needs to be done, to join the campaign to help our kids get active click here.
