There are seminars being held in the USA where parents and caregivers are learning how to start turning the tide on child obesity. At the sessions they are being taught the importance of physical activity, healthy meals, and a healthy active lifestyle.
Too little exercise and too much super sizing fast food are leading causes of epidemic child obesity.
What is the answer to this you say?
Serve healthy food, get the kids away from the TV and the computer, and get them to go outside and play, and be a role model.
Kids whose parents are active tend to model that behavior and we can't forget what a role model we are for our kids.
It's critical for the whole family to get involved with combating obesity and removing its causes and the sooner the better; obese children become obese teens, and then obese adults.
If you're obese you have to treat yourself and set a good example for that child.
It is essential that parents set reasonable weight loss goals and reward children with something other than food.
Get Kids Active is starting up similar parent education seminars and is looking at running these seminars nationwide. These seminars will consist of suggestions on how to get your kids active, healthy snack ideas, fun activities to do with your children, some great products at wholesale prices, free advice on any problems, plus much more. To register your interest in these sessions please email the GKA team with your name and what area you live in.
