Almost a third of Scottish children aged between 13 and 15 are obese according to new figures just published, nearly double the number that doctors had expected. The report written by public health officials also highlights poverty as a key factor.
Today's report confirms what is now a long term trend - between 1993 and 2002 the percentage of four to six and 13 - 15 year olds who were overweight increased. Thirty percent of teenagers are also overweight, storing up massive health problems for the future. This is the same globally, and GetKidsActive is New Zealand’s only website looking at stopping the obesity epidemic through getting our kids active and educating NZ parents.
