Mothers, how many times have you put yourself down infront of your children? Have you ever stood on the scales and muttered about putting on a kilo?
The chances are, your child has viewed this episode and taken it in- their most influential role model has put themselves down!
Children are sponges. They take in all that they see. Instead of placing pressure on yourself to look or feel a certain way, place pressure on yourself to get active! Encourage yourself to join the kids in new activities.
Do some research! Local councils are increasingly becoming aware of the need for community leisure and recreation activities, involving the family. Find out what is happening in your area! Keep an eye out for open days at sports clubs, it's never too late to begin learning a new sport with your child! Find an activity that the whole family can take part in, whether it be biking in the forest, hiking or even just shooting hoops at the local park!
Most importantly, stop any negative talk around your children. Lose the scales, make a goal and get you and your children active!
